For the safety of navigation it is necessary to inform the water craft about the harbor sea marks, draft, availability of berths, services rendered and etc. According to the statistics of the officials engaged in SAR operations the causes of the small vessels groundings are connected with the limited information about the harbor and the coastal waters. The absence of necessary information about the nearest harbor has forced the water craft to navigate longer routes.
The service is executed as follows:
- The harbor signs a contract with RIKS.
- At least 40 minutes before the broadcast the harbor shall present customer service operator information in compliance with the special form by e-mail: tallinnradio@riks.ee
- The information received is broadcasted on maritime channel 69 twice in 24 hrs after the weather report at 06.33 L.T and 15.33.L.T in Estonian and in English. After the weather report follows the information, that the Harbor Information you can listen on Tallinn Radio working channels 1; 3; 5; 7; 20; 26; 27, 62.
- The service is rendered from 01 June up till 30 September.
